New Mascot…Recruiting

by K. Van Engen

Introducing a new face for our school’s mascot, The General. On September 1, 2022, Mr. BJ Schuller, in his new role as the student leadership advisor, decided we needed a physical form of our old friend. There’s a variety of students that volunteer to perform as the mascot during school events.

Previously, the mascot was performed by residents of the surrounding area wearing an outfit provided by the high school office. However, the appearances were sporadic at best. Often, the mascot was only brought out during the homecoming parade. In the past homecoming parade, Dalton and Dustin Wingate rode their horses through the parade wearing the General outfit and carrying the flag.

If this sounds interesting to you, and you are a student in high school, Mr. Schuller is looking for more volunteers to perform as the mascot. The requirements are you must be in grades 9 through 12, academically eligible, available for school events and activities, and 5 feet 8 inches tall or taller. You can contact Mr. Schuller via his email (bjschuller@thegenerals.org) or meet with him in his classroom in the high school.
