Movie Review – How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

by K. Nobles

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is an animated kid movie about a boy named Hiccup (voiced by actor, Jay Baruchel) and his dragon Toothless. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is the third movie and final movie in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. This movie includes voice actors Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, F. Murray Abraham, Jonah Hill, and many more.

The two protagonists face many challenges throughout the movies in the franchise. One of these challenges is handling romantic relationships. Hiccup is trying to balance being chief and his future with his girlfriend Astrid. Toothless finds another type of night fury, which they call a light fury, and realizes he wants a relationship. However, having a massive dragon Viking utopia makes Berk, their home island, a target for dragon hunters. In particular, there is the character  Grimmel who hunted and killed all the night furies except for Toothless.

Over the course of the last year, Hiccup and his team have saved dragons from dragon hunters and returned them to Berk. The team includes Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut. After a visit from Grimmel and with the impending threat of an attack, Hiccup decides that they need to try and find the Hidden World. The Hidden World is something his dad used to talk about. He spoke of it being the birthplace of all dragons. With his dad’s research in hand, Hiccup and the rest of Berk head in the direction of the Hidden World.

I would rate this movie a 9.5/10 because it has action, comedy, romance, and drama. It is an edge-of-your-seat movie with some tear-jerking moments. This movie is the finale of an iconic trilogy. I highly recommend watching it when you get the chance. This movie is sure to leave you wishing for more.
