S-O RELAY TEAM SCARY ON THE TRACK

SIBLEY, Iowa — Tayler Wasmund, Jill Berkland, Jada Carlson and Jillian Bosma look like normal teenage girls. But to their opponents on the track, they might as well be monsters.

“I think we kind of scare people,” Wasmund said. “People look at a meet and they’re like, ‘Oh, Sibley’s gonna be there.’ I was talking to a girl from Okoboji at a meet earlier and she was like, ‘You guys are scary fast.”

It’s no surprise that the four girls from Sibley-Ocheyedan High School strike fear into the hearts of their track and field opponents. In 2014, they teamed up to finish with a school record time of 1:07.62 in the 4×100 shuttle hurdle relay at the Class 2A State Track and Field Meet. That was good for a third-place finish in the event. This year, all four are back and ready to improve upon last year’s accomplishments.
